The Relay Tower is a skeletal antenna tower, fenced in chain link, on the outskirts of Hakumei Prefecture on Polyphn, a rust-streaked structure roughly a hundred and fifty feet tall with a control platform lattice-worked with stairways. It’s one of many automated data relays that carry Nexus Corp communications, each keeping a rolling seven-day cache of every transmission before permanent erasure.
The relay nearest the Bloc 6 crash site was taken offline for repairs hours after the crash and never came back online. Mara Vex believed its cache still held the command that proved William Sallerist’s death, and the crash, had been staged. Thorne climbed the tower while Mara, Brick, and Kano held off Nexus forces below. At the top, Thorne encountered his mother, who revealed that she herself, not Sallerist, had framed him. A Nexus skimmer and van attacked during the data extraction; Brick and Kano were killed in the fight, and Mara was taken (Ep 13).
