The Guardians of the Great Work are a zealot military force clinging to the dream of restoring the gas industry in the ruins of Wafisa’s megacity. They collect heavy taxes and seize goods from the fisher folk and farmers of Blackharbor, who live in squalor under their control, promising that the “Great Work” will one day be complete and prosperity will follow. Their symbol is a golden shield with an abstract pointed logo, and their catchphrase is “For the good of the work.”
The Guardians are based out of the Guardian Compound in Blackharbor, which takes up roughly half the settlement’s land mass and contains their airfield. Guardian troops wear battered, spray-painted armor with golden shields and helmets with large wings bolted to the sides, and carry laser rifles and shock knives.
