This page covers every publicly-released main episode of Dark Star Adventurecast, from the crew’s recruitment on Camiri 4 through their escape from Causeway 3. It’s updated as new episodes go public. If you’re caught up through Episode 30, you’re caught up here too.
Episode 1: Better a Rat in the Drift…
The crew, hired for a classified operation codenamed “Blackout One,” is assembled on Camiri 4 and receives a pre-recorded briefing from Dr. Elara Voss on behalf of Omnitek Holdings. To recover their new ship, they have to negotiate passage through Drift Rats territory in the docking bays, where gang leader Torik “Rustclaw” Sarr demands a favor before he’ll let them through. Thorne uses a cover identity at the local Gas Mining Office to quietly gather intel while the crew works out how to get free.
Episode 2: It’s Just a Prank!
As payment for Rustclaw’s favor, the crew hacks the Neon Fangs communication network and plasters Drift Rats insignia across it with the taunt “Better a Rat in the Drift than a King in a Cage.” They christen their newly recovered ship The Scapegoat during a stop at Roger’s Billiards, where death sticks make their first appearance as a recreational drug on the station. When the crew tries to leave, Rustclaw betrays them, and they have to fight their way out in a space chase against two strike fighters, killing Rustclaw in the process.
Episode 3: Wafisa? I hardly know her!
The crew arrives on Wafisa and lands at Port Ascension, finding the spaceport completely abandoned except for a malfunctioning android help desk. A patrol of the Guardians of the Great Work confronts them, demanding an escalating “toll” before a fight breaks out that leaves two Guardians dead. When more Guardians are later caught trying to blowtorch their way into The Scapegoat, the crew, with Thorne badly wounded and Haleyy knocked to 0 HP, decides they’re too battered to keep fighting and heads instead for Mistretta 4.
Episode 4: The Methane Switching Station
At Mistretta 4, the crew tries to collect Dr. Elara Voss from her research station, but she initially refuses them entry and instead asks them to restore the gas supply at the Fourth Avenue switching station first. They fight past three Guardian guards to do it, with Haleyy punching straight through a computer terminal along the way, and get the methane flowing again.
Episode 5: The Glendale Hotel
Their ship is stolen right out from under them, and with Voss confirming that the station’s methane levels are still climbing, the crew takes shelter at the Glendale Hotel. Inside, they find the bodies of Michael and Claire Harrow along with recordings and notes chronicling the Harrows’ account of Wafisa’s collapse, clues that point toward 17 Millbrook Lane and a hidden storage facility.
Episode 6: The Aurora
Following the Harrows’ notes, the crew finds Millbrook Storage at 17 Millbrook Lane and discovers the Aurora LX-90 hover car hidden behind a false wall. They also trace a mysterious broadcast to the WK9078 Radio Station, where they meet Reginald Froggy Vance and bond with him over music while Felix assesses the damage to his radio tower. Before they part ways, Froggy asks the crew to deliver a message to a contact named Vera Corbin.
Episode 7: Black Harbor
Viktor Strake arrives on Wafisa with Omnitek soldiers who trace the crew’s earlier hack back to the research station, and Froggy is shot in the crossfire before the crew flees to Blackharbor. There they infiltrate a military airfield, burning through purple flower fields as an entry tactic, to reclaim The Scapegoat, and Thorne kills a clone of Viktor Strake found waiting aboard. The crew is ultimately captured by Omnitek soldiers and loaded into a transport, though Haleyy manages to break free of her bonds along the way.
Episode 8: Contractually Yours: Scapegoats, Forever
The crew fights their way free and returns to the research station, where Dr. Elara Voss finally reveals her true nature: she is a Virtual Intelligence housed in an alien orb, not the human scientist she appeared to be. She comes clean about the mission being fabricated, lays out her history with Virodyne Labs and Prometheon’s experiments, and offers each crew member a personal reason to keep working with her, plus 20,000 credits. The crew agrees, and The Scapegoat, with Froggy now aboard, sets out on a ten-month journey toward their next destination.
Episode 9: Brother’s Keeper: Felix’s Story
This focus episode flashes back to Felix Champlin’s past, before he joined the crew: he and his brother Petey Champlin break into Omnitek’s orbital data vault above Polyphn alongside cat burglar Nyx Verhoeven and gunslinger Jett Harlow. Inside, they uncover Operation Red Wing, a program in which Omnitek buys prisoners and converts their consciousness into AI test subjects, and Petey’s mind ends up digitized and trapped on Omnitek’s servers after a confrontation with Omnitek’s CEO, Victor Saren. Felix burns his old identity in the aftermath, takes a new name, and resolves to infiltrate Omnitek and rescue his brother, with killing Victor Saren as his driving motivation.
Episode 10: Rest and Relaxation
The crew stops for fuel at Scrapjack Refueling and Grub in the Orus system, where they meet Yana 7, Dr. Ilon Speth, and Dan Grand, only to discover the Void Cultists have taken over the station and activated a void ansible. Felix hacks the station’s AI, Buddy, for a tactical edge as the crew gets their first look at the Unhallowed and the strange mechanics of void energy.
Episode 11: Stress and Vexation
The standoff with the Void Cultists escalates further, and in the middle of it Haleyy is singled out and identified as “untethered,” a designation that clearly means something significant to the cultists, though its full weight isn’t yet clear to the crew.
Episode 12: Death and Damnation
The crew brings the Void Cultists incursion to a head at Scrapjacks, rescuing a captive named Walter and repurposing one of the station’s own turrets against the cultists. They fight through the cult’s leadership, culminating in the death of the Great Brother, and destroy the void rift at the heart of the incursion, ending the crisis. Thorne and Yana 7 end the episode on a romantic note, while Haleyy experiences a disturbing void-touched vision of a worm-like machine and a surfacing, suppressed memory.
Episode 13: Nexus of Betrayal: Thorne’s Story
This focus episode tells Thorne’s backstory as a rain-soaked neo-noir detective story on Polyphn: Nexus Trading stole his family’s company, Draxus Goods, and Thorne sets out to prove it. He teams up with crash survivor Mara Vex and her bodyguard Brick, along with ex-con muscle Kano Rix, surviving a gravcar chase through Hakumei before assaulting The Relay Tower to pull data proving that Sallerist faked his own death. The mission ends in tragedy: Brick and Kano are killed, Mara is captured, and Thorne’s own mother reveals that she was the one who really framed him. Thorne had been slated for Red Wing before Voss quietly redirected him to Camiri 4 instead, saving his life.
Episode 14: The Potential Profit Is…
The crew arrives on Sibylen and meets Vera Corbin, a xenoarchaeologist friend of Froggy’s, at LeCar Research Station. They formally establish Scapegoat Solutions LLC as a legal corporate entity, and Voss activates an alien door for the first time, granting access to Exosite 34b, a buried alien quarantine structure Vera had discovered under the sand. The crew begins exploring inside.
Episode 15: The Goo Pool
Exploring the upper level of Exosite 34b, the crew watches Voss connect to the alien network she calls the “digital ocean.” Felix submerges himself in a pool of nano fluid and undergoes a knowledge transfer, and in the process the crew senses a massive alien presence somewhere within the network.
Episode 16: Laser Beams For Eyes!
Deeper in Exosite 34b, the crew passes through a hallway lined with alien vats, each holding a calcified beak, before running into an annihilation bot, a self-replicating, squid-crab hybrid made of nano fluid. Thorne is shot in the fight but patched up with pretech cosmetics, while Felix sprints past the bot to reach a “goo cake” interface and seizes partial control of it, holding it still long enough for the rest of the crew to burn it down before its self-replication can spiral out of control.
Episode 17: Powering the Nautilus Spiral
The crew descends thirty feet down a goo tube into the exosite’s basement (Haleyy jumps instead of climbing down and takes a hard fall for it) and talks Froggy through a panic attack along the way. They discover the Nautilus Spiral chamber, centered on the alien Paracausal Bifurcation Array pylon, along with a surgical theater lined with empty vats and dormant spider-like surgical bots hanging from the ceiling. Felix uses a goo interface to control the room itself, and Haleyy opens a vat aperture that starts flooding the chamber with nano fluid, just as the surgical bots power on and turn their laser eyes on the crew.
Episode 18: Elective Surgery
The surgical bots from the previous cliffhanger spring to life immediately. Felix uses the goo interface to slam the ceiling into one bot while Haleyy finishes it off with a bare-fisted haymaker, and Robert Ross rides the second like a bucking bronco before Felix hoists the ceiling, and Robert with it, twenty-two feet into the air. With both bots down, Voss activates the Paracausal Bifurcation Array using the accumulated nano fluid, opening a portal that reveals Prometheon Station: five interlocking rings turning like a celestial gyroscope around a long central rod, with strange blue-diamond shapes resolving into masses of black metal limbs on the other side. Felix and Voss, linked through the goo interface, sense an alien presence with unfathomable intentions, and Haleyy screams and collapses unconscious. While the crew waits out the return trip through the goo tube, Robert begins to open up about his past, hinting at alien tech encountered on Ventos during the Red Rice Wars, and mentioning someone named Haley with one Y.
Episode 19: The Truth About Haley: Robert’s Story
This focus episode reveals Robert Ross’s true origin: he is clone RR7 from an experimental squadron created by Virodyne Labs through Omnitek Holdings. Flashing back to the Red Rice Wars, Robert and fellow clones Jackal, Envy, and Headcase are sent to Ventos to rescue an elite combat commander named Haley (with one Y) from captivity. Deep in the caves there, an alien fork strikes Haley with energy, turning her eyes from brown to green and singeing her hair; the extraction goes badly wrong, with Headcase killed in the caves and Jackal and Envy killed when an anti-air mech downs their escape helicopter. Haley herself dies of her injuries before Robert’s Lazarus patches can save her, and Robert is later assigned to watch over an amnesiac young woman called “Haleyy,” a reassignment that reroutes him toward Camiri 4 and, eventually, the rest of the crew.
Episode 20: She Never Existed: Haleyy’s Story
Still unconscious after the fork activation, Haleyy pulls the rest of the crew into her dream, where they play twelve-year-old versions of their characters searching abandoned railroad tracks on BMX bikes for Haleyy’s “missing sister.” After fighting off strange antlered entities in a closing tunnel, they emerge at a dream-version of Virodyne Labs’s laboratories, where a faceless girl and Haleyy’s own vanishing mother lead them deeper into Haleyy’s fractured psyche, including a surgical theater where her private diary pages come alive and attack. In the end, the faceless girl reveals herself as Haley (with one Y), Haleyy’s original identity, and tells her: “your sister is not missing. Your sister is not dead. You are an only child.” The two halves merge with a hug, and Haleyy accepts that she and Haley are one and the same. She wakes briefly at the very end, bound and captured along with the rest of the crew, as Viktor Strake leans in: “I had no idea just how valuable you are.”
Episode 21: Welcome to Your Prison
Viktor Strake captures the crew as they emerge from the exosite, though Thorne manages to invoke InterCorporate law through Scapegoat Solutions LLC to force a temporary 24-hour release. An auction for the rights to Exosite 34b gets underway, but it’s interrupted when the Void Cultists attack and start turning attendees into Unhallowed. In the chaos, Strake locks the crew aboard their own ship using an Omnitek admin override, frying the spike drive and taking Voss captive, while Vera Corbin, Meer Prust, and Sally Gaylen are wired into the Fork in a ritual called the Joining, merging the three of them into a single orb. Amid the disaster, Haleyy discovers she has a healing touch.
Episode 22: Good Job, You Monster
Trapped aboard The Scapegoat after Strake’s lockout, Felix discovers the ship’s ownership module will have to be sourced on the black market before they can regain full control, while Robert and Haleyy pass the time with a hull-denting punching contest. When a Void Cultist vessel attacks, Haleyy mans the weapons station and destroys it, landing a devastating shot on a fleeing cultist ship. The crew finally breaks free onto Sibylen, where Felix finds a note left by Strake confirming that Voss is gone, and the crew sets off toward the Void Cultists’ exosite to find her.
Episode 23: Pick Up the Box
The crew assaults the Void Cultist exosite to rescue captured Unhallowed, including, to their horror, Froggy himself, now Unhallowed and hauling alien debris under the direction of Rynn Kade of Nexus Trading. A cultist guard named Marun is caught off guard petting the ship’s cat, Percy, near the goo pool room, and is ultimately killed by Haleyy after he refuses to explain Rynn Kade’s presence. Felix seals off Kade’s position in a storage alley with a goo cake, ending the episode on a cliffhanger as he opens peepholes to see what’s inside. Along the way, Haleyy discovers a major new ability: she can verbally command the Unhallowed to perform simple actions, though she can’t yet break them out of their condition, demonstrated by ordering the Unhallowed Froggy to pick up a box.
Episode 24: Boom! Biosionics!
Haleyy uses her new command ability to safely evacuate the remaining Unhallowed, then leads the crew down to the exosite’s basement, where they find the Fork active: Vera Corbin, Meer Prust, and Sally Gaylen wired into it, with Voss’s orb suspended between its tines. Rynn Kade confronts the crew and reveals that the process merges three humans into a single Virtual Intelligence, and a Void Cultist named Kethrix identifies Thorne as a “candidate” and Haleyy as “untethered” before Robert shoots him dead mid-monologue. In the fight that follows, Kade shoots Thorne down to 0 HP from concealment before Robert kills her in turn, and with no healing available, Haleyy discovers she has latent biosionic healing powers just in time to save Thorne’s life, collapsing from the effort. The Fork process completes regardless: Vera, Meer, and Sally all die, and an orb descends from the device.
Episode 25: Rock Tumor
The crew arrives at The Spigot looking for medical help for Haleyy and a black-market ownership module for The Scapegoat. Dr. Iso scans Haleyy and finds crystalline structures growing in her frontal lobe, though neither she nor Felix, who theorizes the crystals are a residual artifact of the Fork overload channeling energy through her, can say for certain what it means. Iso leads them to The Vent bar to find Peter Haslow, a bot mechanic who deals in ownership modules, and Thorne charms him into revealing that the next shipment lands at Helium Docks #7 at 3am. A grenade attack at the bar (smothered by Robert before it can do worse damage, though the bartender is killed) leads to a stranger discovery back at Iso’s shop: Felix recognizes her resemblance to Robert and realizes Dr. Iso is herself a clone of Robert’s line. With Thorne suspecting Viktor Strake sent the attacker, the crew sets a plan to hit the Helium Docks shipment at 3am.
Episode 26: You’re a Good Person, Robert
Tracing the grenade attacker to a docked Omnitek ship, the crew breaches it with one of Iso’s flashbangs and finds yet another Robert-line clone aboard, designated DT7X. He reveals he’d been tracking The Scapegoat using leftover Omnitek admin codes buried in the ship’s systems and was waiting in The Spigot on orders, but before Thorne can finish interrogating him about the command structure behind it all, Iso shoots him dead. A dead man’s transponder activates as he dies, alerting an unseen partner who never shows up to retaliate. Afterward, Robert Ross and Haleyy finally have the long-deferred conversation about his lies, her identity, and what really happened on Ventos.
Episode 27: Life Is Unfair
Felix finishes hacking the derelict Omnitek ship and learns the crew’s standing orders were recently upgraded from “follow” to “eliminate.” Back at The Spigot, Dr. Iso’s shop turns out to have been bombed, with another Robert-line clone found dead inside, killed by her own automated turret, and the loss pushes Iso to fully commit to the crew’s fight. That night, the crew hits the Helium Docks compound to steal the incoming ownership module shipment, fighting off armed security drones during the handoff and a road ambush on the way out before making it back to The Scapegoat with the module in hand. Dr. Iso officially joins the crew as one of their own, and Felix reinstalls Buddy AI as the ship’s managing VI now that Voss is gone.
Episode 28: I’m Not Angry, I’m Disappointed
Felix uncovers coordinates Voss hid inside one of Strake’s own transmissions, pointing the crew toward an unlisted station called Causeway 3, eighteen days away by spike drive. Before they leave, Dr. Iso gives Haleyy a grim update: the crystalline growth in her brain will fully consume it within about six months, though Iso notes something about Haleyy is resisting the process in a way she hasn’t seen before. During the long transit, the crew settles into quieter routines: Froggy withdraws into his nest, Robert watches the dark, and Thorne paces the corridors. They arrive at an empty, dim system where Causeway 3 flags their ship’s ownership module and denies them entry. Felix forces his way in through an exterior spacewalk and a hack, and once aboard the crew bluffs and hacks their way past security, with Thorne impersonating Strake to fool a human monitoring officer, to confirm that The Acceptable Loss delivered Voss to Prometheon Station. Just as they get the confirmation, a security patrol announces its intent to destroy The Scapegoat and swarms of security drones burst out to attack.
Episode 29: Eleven Rounds
Swarms of electro-beetle robots erupt from the walls as Felix races to finish his hack, with Thorne, Haleyy, and Robert forming a defensive perimeter around him. Thorne takes repeated heavy hits protecting Felix and is left at just 2 of 12 HP. Felix’s hack confirms that The Acceptable Loss carried Strake and Voss to Prometheon Station, and turns up an older, deeper trail: an Omnitek data vault that also passed through Causeway 3 years earlier, bound for Prometheon, and never returned. With the drones closing in, Robert clears a path back to The Scapegoat and the crew cycles through the airlock and reaches their stations with rounds to spare, spike-drilling toward Prometheon Station with Buddy setting the course. A security patrol hails them over comms, having identified the ship through outstanding warrants, and demands they stand down; the crew fakes comms trouble and stonewalls, but the patrol’s faster ship keeps closing the gap as the episode ends.
Episode 30: You Broke the Ship, Robert
The pursuing patrol boat forces Thorne to push The Scapegoat’s engines past their limit, and Felix and Thorne fight a losing battle against a boost that redlines into a fireball and then a full engine burnout, leaving the ship dead in the water. Robert fires the ship’s one-time burst ECM generator to shrug off an incoming hit, buying time. With the bridge in crisis, Froggy stages a comic bid for captaincy, inspired by a self-help book he found in Thorne’s room, and mans the comms station while the fight rages around him. Haleyy finally recalibrates her sand chucker’s targeting, miscalibrated since the Drift Rats fight back in Episode 1, and lands the finishing blow after the patrol boat goes fully aggressive, losing hull plating and a crew member to open vacuum. The patrol boat goes dark, and the crew spike-drills away clean, closing out the Causeway 3 chapter for good. Afterward, Thorne and Froggy have a real reconciliation, with Thorne agreeing Froggy deserves a proper room and a working shower, and the crew toasts with Froggy’s hoarded orange juice as the long journey to Prometheon Station begins.
