Petey Champlin is Felix Champlin’s younger brother, a journalist and former field medic who served in the Doppler Skirmishes. He worked for Blackout Press under the pen name “Dox Ryker,” acting as a mole inside Omnitek Holdings to investigate their prisoner conversion program, and spent several months at Omnitek itself under a “research assistant” cover identity.
His story was revealed in a flashback in Episode 9. During a heist on an orbital data vault, Petey was killed by a device that copies a person’s consciousness and destroys the body in the process. His body died, but an AI copy of his mind was left behind, trapped within Omnitek’s servers and subjected to nightmare testing simulations as part of a covert Omnitek program. Notably, Petey’s copy is an AI, a copied consciousness, rather than a true consciousness transfer like the one that created Dr. Elara Voss, where the original person continues to exist.
Freeing Petey is a central driver of Felix’s motivations.
