Haleyy is the crew’s muscle and biopsionic aboard The Scapegoat, played by Steph. Born in 2658 on Vigrid, a desert world in the Thraxis system, she loves beer and fighting, and carries a tough, direct manner shaped by a complicated past she didn’t fully understand until recently. Her eyes are green, though they were originally brown before an incident on Ventos.
Early Life
Haleyy grew up training alone on Vigrid: fighting, week-long desert survival runs armed with only kitchen knives, and building improvised workout equipment her parents never noticed. That conditioning became the foundation of her physical toughness. Early in her military career, she and a partner were stranded at an open airlock as their ship drifted away; Haley jumped without hesitation, while her partner hesitated and was lost.
True Identity
Haleyy’s true identity was revealed to the crew at The Spigot: she is Haley, with one Y. The “Haleyy” persona, and the story of a missing sister named Haley, never existed as a separate person. During a mission on Ventos, she was struck by energy from an alien fork inside a cave and killed during the escape, then revived in the morgue by a biopsionic healing ability she didn’t know she had. She woke with no memory of her death, having unconsciously constructed a new identity and a cover story casting “Haley with one Y” as an older sister who had gone missing. Robert Ross, who served with the real Haley, knew the truth the whole time. The two identities merged into a single sense of self after a psychic dream sequence in Episode 20, in which a vision of “Haley” told her plainly: “Your sister is not missing. You are an only child.”
Biopsionic Powers
Haleyy has been struck by void or alien-fork energy multiple times: first on Ventos (in flashback), again by a void tendril at Scrapjacks, and a third time during an exosite fork activation on Sibylen. These contacts unlocked bio-electromagnetic and healing abilities, which first activated involuntarily in Episode 24 when she healed Thorne’s gunshot wound, collapsing from the exertion immediately afterward. A brain scan at Dr. Iso’s shop in Episode 25 detected crystalline micro-structures throughout her brain alongside other physiological changes (elevated heart rate, high blood pressure, low glucose). The Void Cultists have identified her as “untethered”: someone who has touched the void naturally, without their ritual.
Gear
Haleyy fights with a revolver, a large advanced weapon, a laser rifle, and her bare hands, wearing Woven Body Armor. She carries a broken, decades-old military data pad she believes belonged to her sister, an analog notepad since the pad doesn’t work, a deck of Lokipon Cards she keeps despite being a poor player, and the Harrow Family Cookbook, which she has carried since Wafisa.
